The Territory of Louisiana or Louisiana Territory was an organized incorporated territory of the United States that existed from July 4, 1805, until June 4, 1812, when it was renamed the Missouri Territory.

On March 26, 1804, Congress enacted legislation effective October 1, 1804, that extended the authority of the governor and judges of the Indiana Territory to provide temporary jurisdiction over the District of Louisiana.

Later that year, Indiana territorial Governor William Henry Harrison and territorial judges Davis, Griffin, and Vandenberg held court in the district capital of St. Louis and enacted laws for the region.

On July 4, 1805, the District of Louisiana was re-designated as the Louisiana Territory (1805-1812), when it acquired its own territorial government, modeled on that of the Indiana Territory.

So where did they get the diamonds? Diamonds were rare at that time, this was well before the finds in South Africa.

You run the risk of getting scammed as well. Someone giving you paste instead of the real thing, or having a buyer on the other end tell you your real stones are fake. Gold and silver can be readily tested. It either is or isn't. Gemstones on the other hand, not so much.

After many years of researching this very thing, (the possible sources of the contents in the alleged deposits), it becomes quite clear that if the two transfers and deposits did take place then that wealth DID NOT and COULD NOT have come from Colorado and that it was most likely contraband acquired from a different source.

Precious stones, they come in two forms, uncut and cut. Value alone doesn't tell us much as this could represent just one or two fabulous stones or an entire handful of lesser quality stones. On top of this, the fact that these stones could be either cut stones or uncut stones, in either of these cases it would require someone with a great deal of knowledge about precious stones in order to have placed accurate value on them. And as for uncut stones, well, the value of these stones could multiple many times once they were cut. So the bottom line here is that in order to have placed an accurate value on the alleged stones then the exchange would have required at least one very knowledgeable and an extremely trusted participant, or, the value of these alleged stones were determined before the actual exchange. If the later is true then the evidence would suggest that the actual exchange was prearranged.
