That is funny your date in the picture is 1823. By my research, that is when the real Thomas Beale died.

Thomas Beale died, September 1820 in New Orleans
Thomas Beale Jr died, October 1823 in New Orleans
...but the question that remains:
Are either of these Beales the Thomas Beale of the 1885 Beale Papers?

I have posted this image before. The inkwell and feather were added to hide a portion of the text and to add some nostalgic aesthetics. Few people recognized the date or made notice or comment regarding some of the text that still appears.

Thomas Beale Jr died, October 1823 in New Orleans
...but the question that remains:
Are either of these Beales the Thomas Beale of the 1885 Beale Papers?
"Thomas Beale"; in "name", ONLY... neither "Sr." or "Jr." is "TJB"...
