This forum is to finally put to bed all the crappy ideas people think about The Beale Papers as a hoax. We will explore the top ten as given on the wiki page for The Beale Papers. Interesting No?

Time to outline the Negatives off this site.

We know that the words have been found to be used at the pre eighteenth century. Check that off
We know Mr Morriss's existence is verified. Check that off

We know there was a large fire in Lynchburg even though it was in 1883. No big deal a lot of authors publish their books before getting a copyright. Some never get a copyright. But it is reasonable for most of the copies to have burned in that fire as the printing press and properties were damaged and filed for insurance claims.

But the 1884 dated copyright application of Ward on borrowed Adams Bros & Paynes letterhead clearly states that that the "book" was unfinished but would be sent later, as he applied with only the title claiming to be "authentic statements".
The actual BEALE PAPERS job print pamphlet was advertised and placed on sale in 1885, and there were enough copies unsold that the price was lowered from 50 cents to 10 cents.
Attributing the 1883 Lynchburg as for "most of the copies to have burned" a year and a half before the pamphlet was copyrighted and printed is absurd speculation and not even worth being classified as lore.
