T. Beale, Beal, Beall, or whatever other version of the name anyone desires to lay claim upon. Maybe this is why it was claimed in the pamphlet that he was universally known, because the author knew treasure hunters would attempt to make connection to any of them they possibly could, which has obviously happened, and still is. Yet, still not a single shred of provenance that the story is anything other then an entertaining dime novel.....:laughing7:

National Treasure I was spun off the Beale Treasure Story. If the author or JBW lived today they could sue and make some doe. National Treasure II was made of off information from this forum. Maybe we should all sue and get us some doe.

You do know HBB was technical adviser for the National Treasure I and maybe NT2?

Thomas J. Beale is easy to find. in 1885 your author tells you where to look, offers a physical description, notes the city near where he lived, and when you look there you find a Thomas J. Beale fitting all of the above criteria. Imagine that....:laughing7:

What's interesting are the many personal reasons why all of these other T. Beale/Beall/Beal,etc. are being force-fitted into the narration without any supporting evidence/provenance for doing so. :laughing7:

Yes, we have read posts where any Beale/Beall/Beal/Bell or any version close to that name will do.
What would be the purpose of the "unknown author" writing THOMAS J BEALE and James Beverly Ward as copyright agent and publisher having the pamphlet printed with THOMAS J BEALE if the name was spelled differently.
The real THOMAS J BEALE is a fictional character in the BEALE PAPERS, and after 130+ years after the publication, no one has been able to prove different.

With all the Thomas Beal's and you still think he is fiction?
