Thanks Jeff of pa, That is a full two years before the article in Argosy Magazine by Pauline Innis in August, 1964. Everyone claims if it had not been for the Harts and Pauline Innis the story would have died and been forgotten about? This article contradicts all of those naysayers remarks. Keep digging. Thanks.

This article contradicts all of those naysayers remarks.,.
Curious as to where they heard of the Beale treasure.
Did that have a copy of the BEALE PAPERS?
Nonetheless, Pauline Innis's ARGOSY article and GOLD IN THE BLUE RIDGE book did keep the story alive.

Reading the article, it seems that Hiram J Herbert, Roanoke free-lance writer must have had a copy of the Beale Papers pamphlet, gave it to Massachusetts postal worker, Gordon P MacDavitt to solve the C1 & C3 ciphers, and believing that he accomplished just just that, involved a fellow postal worker, O'Blenes and neighbor, Green, to join in the treasure hunt.

One of them HAD to have a copy of the Beale Paper pamphlet for MacDavitt to have worked on solving the ciphers two years before Pauline Innis's ARGOSY article and before the publishing of her "GOLD IN THE BLUE RIDGE".
The obvious person to have had a pamphlet copy would be the free-lance writer in Roanoke, Hiram J Herbert.
*NOTE* The above article was written by a Roanoke staff writer and appeared first in ROANOKE WORLD-NEWS.
Was that the same newspaper that reviewed the Beale Papers by "JB WADE" in the 1890's?
The newspaper may have had an original copy of the Job Print Pamphlet in its archive morgue.

DYK...? Both Paula & her husband were "Spies"...? Could "Gold" be a dis-information "piece"...?

each mag has a book listing called desert magazine book store
usually in the back of mag, im thinking if the DM did a beale
story it would be listed in the bookstore.
ran across a couple more treasure mags that may have been published
in the early 60s, have to check more on that
a beale could have been in LIFE or HARPER'S too
