just had a conversation about the Beale ciphers last month
a couple of points of convo
1. why not a reprint of TBP after fire or sell to another publication
2.could have Pike mentioned the group in his papers
(i have not looked for Pike papers yet)
3.where would TJB,or members get a book/s for ciphers
(this i looked for and found a source)

Frederick August Mayo (1785–1853), bookbinder of Richmond,Va.
more info on the man @ bottom of pg

cw0909, Go to angelfire site of Ron Gervais and he tells you the History Book that contained the Declaration of Independence that was used to encode the Beale papers cipher codes.

Think about it this way, a person who had amassed a great deal of wealth through questionable means. Coming to the end of his existence starts to question weather they are on good terms with the all mighty. The old saying you can't take it with you, they decide to possibly win favor by doing good with it. Matthew 6:1 "Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you have no rewards from your father who is in heaven." probably unable to retrieve the treasure at that stage of his life decided to give it away "Anonymously". The Memoirs say "For future generations to do good work".

Let me ask this, is it Beale or Beall...There was a questioning between the two name on the original...some say it was a smaller "L" at the end and some say it was an "E".

Going back to the O.P., was it RAW Gold, Gold BARS, or Gold COINS...?
