The Best Of The Shark Pit & Grand Totals Part 2!! 16 Pictures!
OK Guys hang on because this is going to be one long thread with 16 pictures. So stay with me or TURN BACK NOW! Many of you have been following my Shark Pit Post & some of you may remember back in the first week of August I had a Grand Total Part 1 thread from the Shark Pit. Well it's past time for Part 2 so here it is! If you want to know the story of The Shark Pit & answers to your questions Click here. http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.p...c,42179.0.html
Or if you want to see my Grand total Part 1 thread on The Shark Pit click here. http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.p...,18502.0.html? Nothing that is shown in Part 1 is included in this Part 2 thread. Now for the pictures!
The 1st picture will make it clear why it's called the Shark Pit. It shows 82 shark's teeth, 23 StingRay teeth/plates & two porpoise teeth. As you can see the Chesapeake Bay where I hunt is chock full of shark's teeth & other stuff that are MILLIONS of years old! Many ask how do I find them. Well, they just come up in my scoop when I am digging a metal target. If you add all the teeth from part 1 you have a grand total of 126 sharks teeth, 29 StingRay teeth & 3 porpoise teeth! The next picture shows some of my favorite things I have found at the pit since Part 1. There is a pair of old eye glasses, 6 bottle seals, 2 hat pins, a brass key tag from the Steam ship Dreamland, an earring with a small cross hanging off it, 3 toy sword handles, 2 rail road tokens, a pin, a cuff link, a toy lantern, half of a Coca Cola FOB, a marble, 2 beads, 8 rings (2 gold), 4 cuff links (1 gold) & other Misc. things! The next picture shows more of my favorite things from the pit. There is the brass compact that says Nalgiri on it, a fancy fork, a fancy brass valve, a brass belt buckle, 2 brass lip stick holders & parts of others (one still has lip stick in it!), a very small bottle, a toy clay baby (2nd one I have found there), whats left of 3 knifes, a small spoon, a clock key, an old fuse, a strap clip & a what is it! The next picture is a close up of one of the two gold rings. It has a full body Lion on both sides & the initals "JY" on the front. It is one of my favorite finds ever!
Now scroll down to my other post for more pictures!
The next picture shows 12 buffalo & 24 V nickels. If you add the nickels from Part 1, you get 32 buffalo & 48 V nickels! It also shows 14 pennies and whats left of 15 cookies coins after they went though electrolysis. The next picture shows 45 cookie coins. If you add the 44 cookie coins from Part 1 you get 103! (plus all the cookie coins I sent out for experiments & prizes) Many experiments have been done on these encrusted coins we call cookies. To see all of these experiments by me, Floater & others, click here & check the threads for them. http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php?board=70.0
The next picture shows 15 spoons (mostly ice cream sundae or Ice Tea size) & 1 fork. There was a snack bar there that these must have came from.
The next picture shows 9 bullet shells, 15 buttons & 13 pins! The next picture shows 19 clock & watch sprockets, pocket watch parts, 3 tube tops & other misc. things! The next picture shows misc. brass things I have found there. Scroll down to my next post for more pictures!
The next picture shows 44 bottles. There are Anheuser Busch, Pabst, Tip Top, Coca Cola, Pepsi, 7up, Rock Creek, A.B.C., 3 milk and a Blue Bromo Seltzer bottle, & many more! If you add the 17 bottles from Part 1 you get 61! The next picture shows a close up of the 3 milk bottles. The big one is from Wakefield Dairy & has a picture of George Washington on it. The two smaller pint jugs are from Chestnut Dairy. I think these are the coolest of all the bottles I have found! The next picture shows some of the glass chips I find out there. Like the sharks teeth they just come up in my scoop. The bottles also come up in my scoop some times, but I mostly find them when I step on them then kick them in my scoop to pull them up. The next picture shows the top of an old brown jug & parts of plates. The next picture shows the many porcelain & marble things that I have pulled up out there! The last picture is just of some Misc. bone fragment, Jaw bones, vertebrae, disk & other things! The jaw bone with the K9 turned out to be from a cat. (I guess Fluffy couldn't swim!) I hope you enjoyed these post! Thanks for looking, Rob Don't forget to Check out my Treasure Net Tshirts & Hats that I designed. Great Job on this Post Rob. I think Lonewolfe is right on. You could start a whole Museum Dedicated to this site.Say Speaking of which I see Federal dollars here coming in the form of Grants for this Museum. I will register myself as the official Conservator. LOL Gotta love this Country. HH
That is incredible Rob!!! What a spot you have found there! I have actually been doing some research into what could break down the crust on the Cookie Coins without damage to the silver. I will let you know of any ideas that I may come across.
Simply beautiful. I like the way you inform as well as posting the picture. It's a good thing it was not my site I would have forgotten to come up for air! Good job.
Nice stuff Rob. I really like those little sword handles. There cool. Alot of your finds in the relic department are either exactly like things I have found or look real similar. I guess when something was popular it was a world wide thing like it is today. I always wondered what all those gears are. I find them alot to. What were people carrying around in those times. There clockes off the walls.
Great stuff thanks for the pics. I have a fealing we'll still be seing finds from the pit in the future.
now you should put it all together (pt. 1 and pt. 2) in one BIG collage of pictures and show it all off so everyone can see exactly how much stuff you've found over-all at the shark pit!!
Love all the relics, and all those bottles, any Christmas Cokes out of all that you've found (1923)??
looks to me like you could charge admission. 1/2 day hunts at the shark pit.......great,, the site, the story, the pics, and even the cookies......................too good for one spot, must have been an anchor and party spot for ever ,,,,,,,,,,gldhntr
