Re: Had every intention to detect (MORE PICS)

This is a picture of a picture of his "Blood Chit" that was used to identify him as a friendly and get help from the locals in case he was shot down. The original has been put away.

Re: Had every intention to detect (MORE PICS)

packerbacker,

I was on a ship in '46-'47 that was at Pearl on 12-7-41
and we have a museum for it (USS Curtiss AV4)) which
was a seaplane tender. I would like to send you a photo
of it and should you run into a photo of it in your treasure,
we would like to have a copy for our museum.

Thanks,

Re: Had every intention to detect (MORE PICS)

This is 1 of his Purple Hearts, his Distinguished Flying Cross, his bible, some buttons, cufflinks, St. Cristopher, some bars and shoulder bars, 2 sets of dogtags and some shrapnel. The shrapnel is probably what they took out of his back when he was bombed at Pearl. (A little correction to the story) The machine gun got him in the arm, not the leg.

Hey Packer, what is that thing sitting on the purple heart box with the blue circle? I can't make it out. Thanks!

Crypto, that's an encased St. Cristopher medal. There are also scrapbooks with newspaper clippings of historical events. These are letters that Charles Linbergh and his wife signed and printed in the papers appealing to the kidnappers of their child. Notice in the lower article that they had named a couple gangsters as go betweens, probably so the kidnappers would trust them more than an honest citizen. Go figure. Sad story there.

Anyone for the movies? We can get 3 flicks, a cartoon and a newsreel for a quarter. If we go in the evening though, it gets costly!

Appear to be 1940's to 1950's. Bring a good price as antique ornaments. Could be a little before 1940's, but dont think so. Nice to have in original box. Minimum of $5.00 each I would guess.
Looks like a set of Bevo sew on navy wings.. Gold thread, on wool..Not common at all.

Yeah dg, there is one sewn on his uniform also. Anyone know where this may have come from? I know he was in Hawaii and Cuba but there are also some pics of him with some African looking people also. This is about 30-1/2 inches long overall and is very heavy and very sharp. The only marking is, what appears to be, a crescent moon on one side of the blade.

I have one from the Phillipines similar. But that may be North Africa.... Circa 1940" or a little before.

found some more interesting stuff. These are Japanese tags, possibly removed from destroyed aircraft. They were in same box with medals and shrapnel.

This is a sample of bomber nose art. Many planes, especially the bombers, had paintings on the nose of the plane. This is not being posted to offend anyone. It's a historical fact that was all part of the war.
