    4 GW BUTTONS -location pictures added

    This is my very first post on this forum.These were recovered earlier this year from a wooded hillside in NJ. Didn't even know what they were until someone in another forum was able to id them. 4 early large cents(1798-1803) recovered on the same hill. All eagle and star. Probably my all time best finds.

    Those are 4 Great Buttons!!! You have found yourself one heck of a hill side!!! How Deep were they when you found them Were they all together or in different areas?? WTG If possible , can you post pics of the large cents and the reverse side of one of the buttons.........You don't find GW's every day!!!!!! Thanks Seeker

    Thanks for the comments on the buttons. They were found within 20 feet of each other from 2 to about 6 inches deep. Below are pictures of the large cents found there and nearby and the reverse of one of the buttons(no backmark)Only 2 of the buttons had shanks but after 200 years in the ground,I guess that's not too bad. The third picture is of other buttons found there.One button (not shown) has a london gilt backmark(interesting). Thanks for looking.MM2

    Great find! Just out of curiosity, what are the GW buttons worth to a collector?

    Big time Kudos again MM. The best find I can recall seeing in a long time anywhere on the net. I would think that they would be worth more as a collection than parting them out. Make sure you have that place picked clean before you reveal its location. WAY TO GO!!!
