Re: HUBLEY "STAR" REUNITED

It took Joe about 4 seconds to recognize the gun and the fact that he had the barrel to it. I am glad we could united the piece after so many years. I have fond memories of playing with one of those when I was a wee little man.

It was an awesome day even with the poop smell. LOL

That's a mean way to talk about Joe. I mean, I did meet him once with Roger(getty) and I did notice a bit of a smell, but didn't wanna say anything! :laughing7:

HA it may have been me for all that matters, I was feeling kind of ripe that day. LOL JK I think the farmer spreading manure was more than enough for all of us.

Yeah when they spread that manure you can smell it miles away. Stinks pretty bad.

Believe me when I say my husband throws Nothing away...we've got the basement, spare room and stuff moving into the barn to prove it. :laughing7: He's a dedicated collector of many things - just saving history one piece at a time. :headbang: Gotta love it.

Yeah with those winds we had that day coming from the West, we thought it was you, until we saw the tractor coming up the drive. :laughing7: :laughing7: (JK ;D )

Re: HUBLEY "STAR" REUNITED

Wow it is great to see such love for old toys here! This post got me to thinking. Believe that I have one that is largely intact minus only a few minor parts. Found it while metal detecting around the remains of an old one room county school. Thought I was rather skunked on that day because that was it for the whole afternoon not a single coin. If I recall right the toy gun is not very large. And it has a bulls head with horns on the handle. What is the approximate age of these toy guns?

The Hubley Star originally had a nickel finish, and was popular enough that they were made for a duration of 10 years .. from 1955-1965.

Re: HUBLEY "STAR" REUNITED

This is the one cap gun was found out by a falling down one room school house. Not sure if this gun ever had any nickel plate tho. Does this look like the 1955 to 1965 model?

Yours looks like a Hubley Tex, made from 1955 -1960. It should measure about 5 3/4 inches long by 2.5 inches high, and should say TEX on the other side. The construction is two piece die cast metal and it originally had a bright silver finish .. not sure if it was nickel plated .. but it was a shiny silver originally.

Nice little gun!
