Re: Last hurah at the Iceberg? Uno Silvero and 40 wheats!

Good deal Dan. The Merc is nice. You seem to have that "end of the day" luck. :D

You know the nails - I didn't dig a single one. Nate dug a bunch. He said most were deep. Was this your experience? Maybe It was just where I was or maybe the Exp II is a little better with that iorn. I did have my sensitivity down a little more than usual so I wasn't getting any falsing like I normally do.

I hear you on the other stuff - gotta finish my Christmas shopping. ;D

I thought you had dug a few of the nails...nevertheless..Yes, they were all 9" or deeper. I was digging them because once a hole was opened up to retrieve multiple wheats, they would start interferring with the higher conductivity targets. If I pulled the nail out, each and every time at least 2-3 more wheats would appear!
GL Xmas shopping.

So I'm curious here. What are the final totals for the Iceberg (including everyone's finds)? I have enjoyed reading about it every time you all post something about "the 'berg." I just wanna get a feel for the grand totals.

Hmm...real details on totals haven't been really done, but here's a close estimate:
Myself: (these are close approximates)
82 silver coins (including Morgan dollar and Walking half)
20 Buffalo Nickles
2 V Nickles
I'd say about 300 wheat pennies
My son Spencer:
10 silver
2 Buffalo Nickles
probably 30 wheats
Bob and Nate were at about 65 silver between the two, and have 2 more this weekend, so I'd say:
67 silver (including a Franklin AND Walker half and seated dime)
my guess would be 20 Buffalos for those two
I'd say 350 wheats for those two

So...the close approximation would be
159 silver coins
42 Buffalo Nickles
680 wheat pennies :o :o

Great Day Dan, You too Bob and Nate. I know what you mean when you go somewhere else to hunt and aren't pulling out good finds one after another. That's the way my partner and I feel when we hunt somewhere else besides the Happy Trails site.

My partner got out yesterday and found a IH and another #10 sleigh bell. He said it took him over 15 min. to get the IH out of the ground it was so froze and the sleigh bell was even worse.

Hopefully Monday we will be able to hunt the Happy Trails site again, it will just depend on how froze the ground is.

Thanks again to all you guys for the great posts and pictures this year.

Re: More fun at the Iceberg. New record for me.

I see another great time at the Iceberg........You guys have a great area!

But that is strange .......Like you said, finding 100 wheats to one Rosie.

That is odd, but you never know, that area you were in may have been a

penny pitching site. I know some one that detected an old orphanage that

was being knocked down and out back was a penny pitching area. He

hundreds of Indian Head pennies. Yes Indians! So you never know!

Good luck guys when you go back........and hope that silver finds you guys.

Personally, I don't think I'd ever get tired of digging wheat cents!!!! ;) Course, silver is nice, too! ;D The 3 wheats I can see in your photo look to be in very good condition...as if they were lost when still relatively new. Was there a common date on them? Any key dates? Nice.
