Nice article! Best luck to your mum.

I do take a bit of offense to "amateur treasure-hunter" though. You found 3600+ coins and a previously unknown Roman site! Surely that should promote you to "pro treasure-hunter".
:hello2:

Thanks for the updates, the find, the thread fun and vicarious fun, and your contribution to archaeology and history. :angel3:

Just read through this thread. Absolutely amazing. Certainly the kind of find so many of us will only dream about. What I wouldn't give to find a single coin of such historical significance, let alone everything that has been found at this site. If you have a moment I'm sure we would all love an update!!

Wow...that's amazing...I've found a new sense for the word jealousy...

But what will happen to the findings ?

Will you be able to keep something David ?...otherwise this story is sad beyond money...

great finds! a hoard! Wow!
Every detectorist dreams of finding such thing, too!
So few ever realize that they have found, a find of a lifetime!

How does the government there (or museums) put a cash value on these finds that the finders receive? I'm just curious as I've seen so many great and HISTORICAL finds that have come from the UK and I wondered how the finder/land owner is "rewarded".
