Great ring Rusty!!!......That's unbelievable!!!

I don't know if this will help but I know it's worked great for me taking real close-up pictures. If you have access to a microscope, preferably with a light on it, zoom in with the microscope to see the fine details. Then hold a digital camera lense up to the eye piece of the microscope, focus and take a picture. The picture is exactly what you see in the microscope. I have access to a microscope at work and can see and take pictures of unbelievable detail on things.

Update: I think Goldencoin may be right.I have a box of old picture cards like you saw in grade-school and they have pics of alot of old side wheel steamers and the story of the ship on the back. If you read the story it is pretty tragic so it seems only fitting that someone may have wanted to commemorate such a major loss of life.Maybe they had a loved one aboard.Once again thats a sweeet ring and Congrats, Sorry but the cards are in black and white.I don't know it has three decks and you can't see the wheel in this pic, you be the judge. Also, I am wondering if the face in the ring is not the result of a tintypes chemicals, and shows a distorted image of the original picture the ring held
