(photos added, note weight on scale to help ID it as copper vs. large cent??no markings at all, leading me to believe it's copper; every large cent we have found there is very clear and readable)
Was at the old Rev War era house where we've found 7 large cents...was with Earthworks, he was following me around with video camera for an hour or so because he came from work and didn't have his detector...we were talking and BSing and I found some clad...ground is frozen so I am using hammer and chisel and pounding the ground...get a good signal and I'm hammering away then get down to the soft ground below the surface...I'm down about 6 inches or more and LARGE CENT I yell as I see the green disc in the ground...and jump up...it's on camera, holy cow. It's great..you can see hudson river in background. What a rush! (It appears to be colonial copper, not a large cent). Does anyone have a site where Earthworks can send you the video and you can post -- and then take it down in a few days or so if it uses too much space?)

I can use my comcast or yahoo site to post it. PM me and I will give you my email.

The way it is corroded my guess is it a counterfeit Goerge. I find more of them around here than good ones. They used inferior metals and don not stand the test of time.

Great job by earthworks getting this video of colonial coin find...he was following me around for about an hour not expecting to get something like this, that's for sure...note at one point early on you can see Hudson River way in background. Hammer and Chisel is the way to go! (At the end when we talk about Palm Beach, that's a knock on his brother who has been sending us emails about how nice it is on his visit to Florida and how are we in the cold, so we got last laugh. Note that audio is off from video, so it's not timed exactly right.)

It's just a flat green disc, nothing readable on it any longer...happens quite a bit up here with those coppers under certain conditions. Will never know...
