I actually had several close targets when I was initially going over this area ~ I think the gold coin was coming in at about +50 on my XLT. I started pinpointing ~ the gold coin came out first, then a big nail, then the Barber Half, and finally another big nail. Then I let my son take his detector over it ~ he didn't find anything else.

Saw one of those $10 gold coins on eBay that was in slightly better condition. It was in the completed listings as being unsold. The reserve price was $2,500.00. I know you probably wouldn't want to sell it, but thought I'd chime in.

Great find.

Yeah, I too looked up to see if any were sold lately ~ I didn't anything similar to mine. I figure a "real world" value on mine is about $500.00. But, the value really doesn't matter since I'll never never NEVER sell it! Heck, I've been sleeping with it in my hand ever since I found it! Just kidding ~ LOL!!

Here's a picture of them before I gently cleaned off the dirt on them.

I got excited looking!!!

I could not even image! :o :o :o :o I remember the day about 25 years ago when I found my first gold ring...I jumped up and down and actually ran in the park! Now when I find gold or silver I can control myself...But finding that gold coin.....man you are the man!!!! What a find you did something we all just dream about!!! Go out and have a great dinner or do something special you deserve it! That is one of the best finds I have ever seen!!!! By the way....I think that would have caused me to run around and start jumping again!!! ;D I even had my kids come look at it!!!!! :) :o 8)
