Re: The GREATEST hunt of my life: Iron Brigade's THREE BUCKLE DAY
Super hunt, post, finds and a great day for you and your group. I know the feeling you must have had after finding the buckle and I don't blame you for taking a break and "soaking in" the great rush of finding it. Congrats Will, happy to see such good finds being made and again research and persistance pay off.

The value will increase with judicious cleaning."

You are the king, Buck, the king of datecting...rasearch...pictures...what more can I say? It looks like you and your buddies have been kicking some serious metal datecting arse quite lately.
There could be a coppa around there somewhere.
You definitely lived up to your name, BuckleBoy!
Kyle
Those early PA settlers did too much and that is why coppas are found in abundance!
The Three Datectateers will miles to find the Colonial "stuff"!

Re: The GREATEST hunt of my life: Iron Brigade's THREE BUCKLE DAY
Unbelievable! The luck involved to find both pieces of that buckle is staggering. Am I correct that these pieces were numbered? If so, do the numbers match on both halves?
I'm not sure I agree with the sabre blows theory though. I think it would be doubtful that it was hit once much less several times. Plus I think the owner would have been laying in the battlefield if he got hit with that sabre. The problem is that we will never know the full story.
But who cares? You found some amazing artifacts!
