Wow I can't even imagine having that much history on my property! I thought that living on an old homestead from the 1860's was fantastic! We haven't found anything that even comes close!!! Congratulations on your historical find! That desk is absolutely amazing!

I had trouble reading the entire thread, kept getting page not available.

But, a couple thoughts. 1. You cannot copyright anything that is not your own original material. I once had a smart aleck brother who found a lot of really old photos, probably from before 1900. He copied them with a SLR camera, actually did a good job, then announced they were copyrighted. Not so. Once he found that out, he will take the photo, copy it, and photoshop a frame around it, then calls it copyrighted. These are family history photos. It should be no secret that he and I do not get along well any more.

2. Anything from before, I think 1923, is definitely copyright expired, with some possible exceptions if copyright was renewed, but I am not sure you can extend a copyright before that date. Copyright law was rapidly changed when Disney realized Mickey Mouse was about to expire.

Somewhat late perhaps, but only read this thread today, I can not add anything that has not already been said. I am blown away, what a day dream.
