Hey Lonewolf, good to see you back man! I've missed your posts and finds, they're always so interesting, although after your gold coin find, all the others must seem less glamorous. Welcome back, and HH!

All I can Say Lonewolf, is that is the sweetest coin I've ever seen.
It is the coin of my dreams.

GREAT, GREAT, GREAT, FIND.

I've been detecting since my neighbor and I ran a sawmill and I looked
for nails and horseshoes in logs. That was way back in 1983, not as long as a
lot of hunters in here, but just the same it's been over 20 yrs. I still have yet to
find my first GOLD coin.

Well guess i'll just have to keep looking. Guess i'll just have to be happy with the Infantry
Officers silverplated button from the war of 1812 that I found last week.

Again, Nice find, think this buckeye could come up north and help you hunt sometime:)?

Still going I see! lol

I was invited to submit this to W&E's Best finds issue but I was gone for approx. 4 months or so & missed my chance :-(

Oh well, on to bigger & better finds "hopefully"!

Hey Lonewolf, congratulations on your gold coin. I must say, I know exactly how you felt when you found it, cause I found my first gold coin, last month on March 23. It's a 1825 George IV gold sovereign, and if you want to see it I posted the story and pictures on March 23 under the heading "Today I hit the Metal Detecting Jackpot." I know you'll never forget that day!

This is the kind of find that gives everyone hope that the next old yard or house site will be the one where you get to see that Golden Glitter shining up at you.. WTG MidnightGuy

Many, Many Congrats, LW!
I'm glad you did'nt do like the old days and bite the coin to make sure it was real gold! Hard to picture someone so long ago losing $5.00 in gold and not digging a 40 acre hole, 50 feet deep, trying to relocate it. That was a LOT of money in those days. If I lost $5.00 today I would cry me a pity puddle over it. Really am glad for you! Hope it is just one of many to come!
