Alright!!! You finally got a gold coin from "The Pit". It's amazing how many times you've hunted that place and pull so many coins/relics/bottles/jewelry. And now you can add a Gold Coin to your amazing list. It looks to be in great condition too.

I wonder if that coin came from one the cash registers you found the fragments of 
As for cleaning, I would lean towards electrolysis for removing stuck on bits of crust, just go slow, dipping it in for only 20 seconds at a time max.
I did this with some silver coins I found. Gold should react similarly.

Wow!! Congrats man. That'd look great on the banner. That place just keeps proving its a winner huh. Congrats for finding it (lol the coin AND the site) and doing a good job with being thorough with the pit as it has so many targets. HH!

Congratulations!! Beautiful coin - I wouldn't do anything to try to clean it until your excitement wears down - too much chance that in your haste you might damage it. I think I'd just soak it in distilled water for the time being.
You're really got an amazing site to hunt there - it's always so much fun to see what neat things you locate there.
