Re: 02/13/09 - Back at the bottle dump. lots of pix + video
Looks like you got yourself one heck of a 1920's or so bottle dump, just on the surface! I'd bet if you get down abotu 2 or 3 feet theres some awesome stuff just waiting to have its embossing wiped clean! Nice finds!

Nice video. Looks like the broken square amber bottle with the embossing and number 9 on it might be the oldest one. Is there a manufacturers mark on the bottom? Nice finds.

Chesebrough Manufacturing Company Consolidated was formed in 1880 in New York, NY. Besides the Vaseline salves, they produced Vaseline Hair Tonic and a sewing machine oil. The cork enclosure for Vaseline petroleum jelly was replaced with a screw cap in 1908.

TreasureFiend, probe until you find the deepest areas and good luck, that area looks promising. I've gotten real nice 1860-1880 goods right next to and under newer surface dumps like yours.

Oh man, what fun Treasurefiend! And thanks for the video. How did you find this spot? Did you just stumble upon it or did you have a lead? I'm tempted to offer to help in a dig but not sure if I could follow through or not. Have you been back since it's warmed up some? Any digging yet? Very wet? Too many questions - I'll stop now. Oh, ya one more. Just curious who was the background music in your video - gotta love that banjo.
