    Re: Purty Whittling

Nice bottle! And, a nice image! I wish that I could make images of colorless/aqua bottles that were of that quality. I know the technique to improve my images, but I don't have a convenient arrangement to employ it.

I have a color-corrected flourescent light-box on my wall, so I've experimented extensively with techniques using that set-up. Not much luck with aqua/colorless glass! Here's one such experiment, but I think it will never produce more than novelty images.

Trying to deconstruct your image, I see a sunny window (light source at a distance is what defeats me). You must have used another light source on the camera-side of the bottle. No flares, so I assume you used a diffuser of some sort, rather than the camera flash.

Care to share some technique? Whatever you're doing, it's working well!

    Re: Purty Whittling

I thought your pics were awesome. I'm using natural light in the background lit from the front by only camera flash. You were correct. Background light shows off what's inside the glass and an additional front light source reinforces what's on the front surface. Or if you are like me, I have taken enough bottle pics to know what works for me. Kinda a trial and error thing.

Thanks, It is probably the result of being made in a cold mold.
