    miniature booze bottles

Most of these came from what we call the railroad station dump, same dump as the quart flask, back in '95. What a dump!

I have two of the little squat wines, I gave away about 4 or 5 to friends. We dug a lot of mini meds out of the same dump. More pics soon.

    Re: miniature booze bottles

The amber (fifth one from right) is a 3-piece mold which is odd for such a small piece. I especially like Bouvier's Buchu Gin. I saw a miniature whiskey at a show once, clear, had an embossed horse on it, the guy wanted $175, I'll just keep diggin.

PS, all these go back into their custom designed foam rubber-pocketed lock boxes. Nothing worse than seeing a grown man cry when he chips his favorite goodies.

Awesome Minis there. I have seen a couple of them before. You need to post them on antique -bottles. net to see what they have to say. Here's a link

A dump for the train club-car trash -- outstanding! There's probably nowhere else you could find an assortment like this of liquor mini-bottles.

Tell me that you have them bolted down to that window sill. They are way too nice to be just hanging on top like that. Choice.

    Re: miniature booze bottles

The sixth from right is really nice, squat, very heavy thick glass, no sick on it at all, it's a:
    WRIGHT & TAYLOR
    DISTILLERS
    LOUISVILLE, KY
    REGISTERED

I chipped it, wasn't stored properly, small but value-reducing chip at front bottom. Hence the foam lined storage boxes. I have so many bottles, most are stored away.

The 2 bright, light-honey are M. URI out of Louisville KY also. Notice the different designs. The small whiskeys are fancy because the molds were small, less time needed to make a nice fancy mold.

I will try to do some macro shots of individuals when the light is right. Will do another post of some neat mini meds, many from the same dump.

Don't stop diggin' 'til ya find the bottom, gleaner1

I think I recognize some of this little bottles as miniatures of the larger, pint, fifth and quart-size bottles. These miniatures are just scaled-down versions of the larger bottles.

The distillers had invested in distinctive bottle shapes for their products. They wanted brand recognition from the shape of their bottles in the same way that Coca-Cola did with the hobble-skirt bottles.

Sounds like you're a Kentucky Digger. I love seeing Louisville bottles anytime I can enjoy looking at them.

Wow! Must have been a Louisville rail line that ran through your area. Thanks again for showing these great bottles.

    Re: miniature booze bottles

Harry, good point, I always thought the minis were more fancy for some reason. I had a Mt Vernon qt long ago, pretty banged up, looked just like the mini I have, I also have the quart W & T, very similar to the mini. If you can find me a fifth or qt of the Bouvier's, I would like a chance to buy one. Thanks, gleaner1.

A visit to a bottle show should turn up a good example of most of these bottles in a larger size. You're right to pick the Bouvier's as the one to find, I think. I don't recall ever seeing the larger bottle (but then, I wasn't really looking for one).

I like to have variants in size, color, mold, etc., for my collection. I don't have many whiskey bottles, but I do have this pair:
