    Battery jar lid?

ticm's post got me thinking about my weird jar lid. It may be a battery jar lid, it has strange protrusions and two tiny holes.
    Any thoughts? Thanks, gleaner1.

That's probably just what it is, 'gleaner1' -- a battery jar lid.

Wouldn't it be nice to have an exchange of lids and tops for jars and bottles where a collector could add a correct stopper to his item. Every digger has an accumulation of these tops and stoppers, but I never see an exchange so that a collector can improve something in his collection. Is that something that diggers here have some experience in doing?

Funny you should mention that Harry. I dug a emerald Crown Perfumer bottle yesterday but could not find the emerald crown shaped stopper. I posted it as a want on another site, if anyone has one please PM me. I was thinking about the same type of lid exchange myself.

Here is what my jar would look like whole: http://cgi.ebay.com/Green-Glass-CROW...d=p3286.c0.m14

I have load of different porcelain and clear glass canning jar lid inserts, and know where to find many more. PM me with a description of what you may need, I will see what I can do. May even be able to do zinc lids for some jars.

    Thanks

    Re: Battery jar lid?

It's great that there is some interest. I am going to start a new thread so that it will always be recognizable. How about "Lid & Stopper Exchange" for a thread title?

'Mr. R.' can post his perfume bottle want. I have a couple of lids and stoppers that I'd like to acquire.

Images of your accumulation of lids and stoppers, like 'gleaner1' posted, might jog some recognition . . . good close-ups work better than big group images.

We could do the same with doll parts if it's not already being done elsewhere.

Sounds like a good idea. I know someone somewhere needs my battery lid.

plehbah, your comment is astronomically funny. I too sense the noxious chemicals in the dump and have pondered their affects on my life span. I have seen mercury in dumps......yeeeeeks....
