    Shaw's Inks

I bought this bottle at a thrift store for 50 cents.? It says Shaw's inks are the best...mint condition...top is sharp..looks like it was cut off.? What is that white spot?
Can anyone tell me the age and what it is worth?

I live in a state of rules where I am not permitted to live on my own country land because my home is not 130 MPH rated! I can only visit it from time to time and pay the fines.  I feel so safe with Big Government protecting me. In some states its illegal to collect rainwater.

pic?? Sounds like an older bottle, check the mold seam on the side and see if it goes all the way up the bottle, the white spot could be a stain from the ground. The top is what is called a ground lid.

That white spot is an imperfection in the glass, your bottle is a really old hand-blown bottle, nice buy! The jagged edge is actually not ground but rather from where they snapped the bottle off after it was blown! Any pics of the bottom of it?

Also referred to as a shear top ink. It's actually a very nice example of this type of ink, and most likely dates to mid to late 1800's.
