E R Durkee Bottle

I was metal detecting in my sisters yard today and found a bottle, can anyone give me some
info on it. The bottle is about four and three quarters inches tall and is made of clear glass.
It says "E.R. DURKEE & CO. NEW YORK" on the side of the bottle. The cap says the same thing
plus it says "TRADE MARK" and there seems to be a human hand between the words TRADE and Mark.
On the bottom of the bottle it says "BOTTLE PATENTED" "APRIL 17, 1877" there is also a diamond
shaped design on the bottom. When you first look at the date it appears to say April 11, 1817 but
if you hold it to the light just right you can see it is April 17, 1877, I think its just a bad impression
in the glass. How old is this bottle and what might have been in it, I can't seem to find much info.

...That would be alot of opium, enough to supply an entire army...nah, just kidding. Durkee is known for mustard and dressings. As far as the age of this bottle I would say circa 1920's because it is machine made as opposed to being handblown. check the seam, notice that it runs all the way through the top as opposed to being handblown with an applied top where the seem stops below the top of the bottle. Nice to know that your sisters yard has some history. Check it out again. Good luck.
