    A "Savory" Find

Interesting find at the thrift store a few weeks back. The bottle is "Black's Superior Boullon" made by the Thomas Black Co in Columbus Ohio. I've done some fact finding and have found nothing like this. What do ya all think? Worth the $3.00 I paid?

If it wasn't for me, we would have a used beer cap shortage.

One site lists your bottle for sale at $7.00.
    "K1478
Advertising Item: Small glass bottle, clear. Embossed "Black's Superior Bouillon"
1-1/4" Mfg in Columbus, Ohio. 4-1/4". In shape of a soda bottle."

I believe an expired eBay listing noted the date as 1910.
You did well in your shopping.

    Thanks Don,
I love thrift stores when you can double the value of something just by buying it. A Win/Win situation.

I wonder what "Bouilion" is or means. This definitely looks like a soda bottle.

I know we're thinking Bullion cubes for seasoning. This probably something different.

No, I believe it is probably a bottle for meat "juice." These were very popular near the turn of the 20th century as nutrition aids or dietary supplements. There is quite a wide variety of such bottles available to the collector. I'll bet that someone will post here an image of a VALENTINE'S MEAT JUICE from Richmond, VA, or a GOLDEN'S LIQUID BEEF TONIC or some other meat juice bottle.

Here is my Golden's. I was very surprised to see the embossing on this bottle . . . I was sure it was a strange little wine bottle when I first saw it.

You are right Harry, I would've thought that to be a wine or champagne bottle. It is a beauty.
