I think this is a classic Prohibition-age whiskey bottle. Lots of whiskey was sold through a physician's prescription during Prohibition. The spider and web -- classic prohibitionist imagery! What does the "caution" label read??

This is a nice example of a Prohibition whiskey -- I'd never seen the labels on this bottle. Thanks for sharing!

The guy who found it is a bartender and we got talking about bottles. He tells me he found a cool whiskey in his gramp's basement. He mentions Prohibition. He describes it to me looking for a ball park value. He says it's got metalic labels, it's "brown", fancy, the whole nine yards. I say 100 to 200, sight unseen.

Next week, he says he found the exact piece on the net somewhere going going for about 10 or 20 beans. Then he shows me a cell pic of it. I offer 150. He says no, too much sentimental value. He wont part with it. Then he brings it in to the bar for me to take pictures for Tnet. Notice the green felt pool table background. Is this a $100-200 bottle? Or more?

Caution label soon.

Thanks for telling me about this post! Now I can see what the bottle I just found that is the same as this one looked like!
Good pictures as well!

I referred rtde3 to this post when I saw his find, at first I thought they were the exact same but now I see the differences, especially in the neck. Interesting to know there are varieties on this type. I hope to get an example some day, but it's gonna be a bit of a difficult task I have the feeling.

$10-20 is about right, do not pay anymore for it or you're throwing money away, much more common than you would think....Jim

Thanks for the head's up Jim, if I can't get the guy to part with it for $150 bucks, I guess I am as unwittingly lucky as I am extremely foolish.
