Hello Cappy Z, if you mean old city or town dumps, no not generally, as I don't live near any place like that. But here on the gold fields, they didn't have dumps as such, usually buried their rubbish in dug out holes, or toilet holes. To find these, you usually have to use a metal probe, which can be around 3ft long with a ballbearing on the tip. I actually don't use this method. I simply find the filled holes by walking over the hills, especially after a good rain, when a bit of glass might finally be exposed. And the dumps are usually in areas most people don't think to look. It's these areas I count on to find them!
