i was walking around my home the other day and noticed alot of broken glass, on these dirt mounds like 15 feet tall, i kinda kicked some dirt arount and under the surface seems to be burnt, i actually found some small little bottles while doing so.i am no bottle expert but i collect everything. i asked my friend what this place might be he said maybe a old dump. he said that the glass rises over time and thats why there was so much on the surface. so i dunno what the area is, im wondering if i should get a shovel and dig down. does anyone know what my chances are of finding complete bottles if i dig??? kinda stupid question i know, but i have never dug for bottles

Dig. Carefully. Take a long probe and gently push into the soil as to not damage anything. Do you have an idea on the age of the bottles or dump. Carefully loosen soil and scrape away.

C,

post some pics of the bottles.

Why not take a look at the site with some digging?

Check it like Gypsy said, probe.

Use your trowel a bit. Just a small
trench, pehaps 6-7 inches deep, foot and a half long;
use thetrowel and follow those pieces of glass, going down
and/or in the path of your finds. Scrape when you
start hitting glass, don't dig.

Could be you found a dump ??? They also burnt them
down to get more room, perhaps you will find some
melted glass.

Post pics of the bottles you found.

have a good un.....
