hello, just wondering if anyone would know what the markings vc&c on the bottom of a bottle found in matthiasan state park in illinois would be. Just trying to help a friend identify it, couldnt find anything about it online. looks old, light purple in color and bubbles in glass. Ill try to get a pic soon thanks

Not listed in the Glass Factory Marks catalogue. Although a V D & C is listed. Alfred Vogeler Drug Co. Lets see that pic if ya can and we will be able to help a bit more. jgas

ok i got some pics....after looking at it the c's could be g's or vice versa....

Hmm, not sure. It appears to be a pickle jar though. Could be a local maker thats just not listed. Someone will come along here and get it pinned down. C'mon Creeper where are ya buddy? jgas

Yeah it appears to be a pickle or olive jar.. Now about the bottom... I am seeing V A & C .. I tried to find something online but couldn't find anything.. maybe that can help someone else find the bottle...

Think it's V G & C . Don't know the glass company , but (in searching) did find a Richmond Virginia Beer bottle thay had V G & C on the back at the base.

If it is Virginia then it probly would be V A & C.. That is what I am seeing.. I thought the A was a G also when first looking at it but if you look very closely at the letter in question you can see that it is a pie shape with a dash thru the middle.. so it would be the letter A

Edit: I went back an looked again after I posted the above post an that Time it looked like a G again.. So I am confused... If it is a G then the bottom of the G is worn off an the dash for the G is to close to the top making it look more like a 6
