    Camp kerosene lamp?

This came from an estate sale. I got two other items: a virtually worthless Hood's SARSA PARILLA bottle, and a Cohansey lid amber snuff jar (chipped). They were $3 each.

This thing looks like it's all business. It's small; I can wrap my fingers about 80% around it. There's no fancy globe for the flame. Also, the original (?) owner etched his name on it as if it was important or liable to get lost. I found two JH Woodens; one was a fellow being sued because a family member killed a couple in an auto accident in 1951, the other a guy who published a live-stock record in 1882 in Cimmarron, Kansas. Kind of a cowboy journalist.

So, Where did this thing come from? At what price should I start an ebay auction?

I think it's an alcohol lamp, used for chemistry lab work. Nice little piece. I cant help you on price, if I saw it at a yard sale for 3 bucks, I would buy it.

It IS an alcohol burner. You may want to check the names of local science teachers in the 1950s and 1960s for "Woodard."
“A man should keep his little brain attic stocked with all the furniture that he is likely to use, and the rest he can put away in the lumber room of his library, where he can get it if he wants it.”
