had a little rain, so I thought perhaps the 'shrooms would be out. none yet, but I found a bottle that says Dr. W B Caldwell - Monticello, Ill. came up w/ this web site for info History of the Pepsin Syrup Company lots of info, but how can I tell how old it is? it's a screw top, so not that old I guess. I have found several broken mason jars in the same area, & what looks to be what's left of an old still. started to clean the area of leaves, & hurt a baby lizard, so I called it quits.
sorry there are no pix, my daughter has the camera.

Yep, the bottle you describe is very common and probably dates to 1920's/30's or even later. I have dug several from the privy digs we do. Although the ones we find are cork tops/ Late 1800's. jgas
