They used this style since the 50's but the earlier ones had a Crown that wasn't fully colored in, the solid crown like yours started in the mid 60's thru the 70's....Jim

Your welcome.

However ... I just did a little follow up on this and discovered that Royal Crown changed their bottle design again in 1970. The one like yours was introduced around 1958 and used until about 1970. The first picture below is a 1958 ad and shows the 1958 to 1970 bottle. The second picture is a 1970 ad and shows their new bottle logo which became the RC in a bubble.

Another however ... Everything I know about LGW bottles tells me that the 75B is for 1975. However, I can't find a 1975 bottle that looks like yours. From about 1970 on they all have the RC in a bubble.

So I will have to do a little more research on this and see what I can find. The only thing I can think of at the moment is that your bottle may be an exception to the rule that did occur sometimes with glass makers who continued making a particular design beyond the normal change-over dates. There is nothing about the LGW B75 code on your bottle to suggest a date between 1958 and 1970.

I'll be back!

Just for the record ... below is the latest ad I could find for a Royal Crown "pyramid" bottle. (Dated 1955). So in a nutshell, I'd say the following is as good a rule of thumb as any. But please be reminded, there are almost always "exceptions" to the rules!

"Painted Label Bottles Only"

1. "Pyramid" bottles used circa 1936 to 1955/58 (w/exceptions).
2. "Diamond" bottles used circa 1955/58 to 1970/75 (w/exceptions).
3. "Bubble/Circle" bottles used circa 1970 to present > (Paper label and plastic).

I hope this helps and is not too confusing.

I just pulled this example from a pit that dated from 1957 to 1962. Unfortunately, I don't remember the date marking on the bottle and I threw it back into the hole before filling it! Sorry......

Note: this was much larger than 10oz. - probably more like 16oz. or 20oz.

No problemo! Just "travel" back and get it! Lol :laughing7:

Shouldn't be a problem - if I fall off my deck I'll land right in the hole! :tongue3:

I'm sure not looking forward to re-digging all that 60's garbabe though. Lots of plastic crap and styrofoam cups!

Guess I should have taken your advice and kept the painted sodes..... :tard:

I found this RC bottle that was buried in good shape recently around my home that was built in 1962. It is 16 ounce/ one pint and has a greenish hue and vertical lines. It has a # 36 on the opposite side on the lower part of the bottle. Not sure what 36 signifies.

Here is the backside with 36 and a strange indent squared U on its side.

The indent was just to hold the bottle in place while the painted lable (acl) was applied. The actual date of the bottle should be embossed on the bottom. Please tell us what marks you find there like ... 23 (I) 62 ... or anything else along these lines. I'm pretty sure it's a 1960s bottle and common.

Dear all; I just am for the first time on this page, while looking for the origin of a cork lined Royal Crown bottle cap. I found a huge amount of nice cork lined bottle caps for my collection, about 1000 diff. I was able to identify a lot of the caps, 1 is still remaining, the RC cap. It has no marks on the side of the cap, on top is written "Royal Crown RC a fine cola drink". It is from around 1960 (as all the caps where). I am almost sure it's no USA cap, as there where no other USA caps in the box. Almost only caps from Western Europe. Somebody can help me? thanks in advance

Was recently under a home doing some work and found two drink bottles partly burried in the sand.

One was a Brownie drink with some elves but haven't determined it's date.
The other was an RC Cola bottle. Green color, 10oz with the bubble/circle RC
with Royal Crown Cola Caramel Color around the circle.

The bottom has:

L-1037
a number 7 appears on one bottom side, with a 4 directly across on the other side
then there is a 73 opposite the L-1037

I'm guessing it's from '73 but no idea. Any id help greatly appreciated.
