He travels 1,100 miles once a year to dig for a day or 2

Howdy all, wanted to share one of our digs this summer. Our good friend, and digging partner, Tommy, travels from California to Colorado for a day or 2 of digging in Cripple Creek and Leadville with us every year . This year we took him to a small dump site ( appx 30 yards by 20 yards, runs from 4' to 6' deep) we found last year, that we are pretty sure has never been dug. Anyway we had a great day,Tommy took home a backpack full of bottles ,including his first Cripple Creek loop seal beer bottle and is already counting the days until his trip next summer.
Rory (my brother) found a beautiful Ouray Colorado Druggist bottle. I was also lucky enough to come up with a CC loop seal beer as well,I say lucky because my bad heart doesnt let me dig anymore, but my brother opens the hole ,gets to the layer, then lets me in to "scratch" and is extremely paitent with my slowness ,until I find one ,then its his turn, then my turn, etc. I hope you understand, bottle digging has always been my priority, & complete passion ,and with much gratitude and hard work, my brother makes that still possible for me ,,,Thanks Braaaaa !!!! love ya with all my heart Hope ya all enjoy the pic's !!! HD.
P.S. I just noticed there is never any pic's of me ? guess we know who takes all the pictures

I'm with you on that one. I'd be afraid of a collapse myself. Nice looking digs though!

Thanks for all the concern ! but that hole was nowhere near as bad as some have percieved. We have always been very safe diggers, and ALWAYS bring the roof in before it falls. No worries on this end. Happy diggin

    I can relate to Tommy......

A couple of times a year I'll fly 2,400 miles out to Hawaii to dig with my brother

My wife only allows me a 48 hour pass, so I fly out Friday and come back on Sunday

It sounds kind of stupid, but it's worth it

Our fondest wish is to find Hawaiian soda bottles, which my brother and his friends call "sodes" - hence the nickname they gave me......

I'm in California right now, so maybe me and Tommy could save us some travel time and go digging! Do you know what part of the state he lives in?
