Fairly easy to come by, they bring about $5-10 bucks if they sell on Ebay...

They are nice bottles overall, but are common to come by.

Thank you guys! Did a search on eBay and found two. They wanted $9.95 + shipping...no bids. Oh well, it looks nice on my "whatnot" shelf.

I'll buy the six sided.
Hello TrickyVik, It's ironic. I noticed that also and the seam is angled. Bottles are not in my ares of expertise but, I think the old ones are very cool. What can you tell me about this one? Thank you.

I could tell you that if the seem goes underneath and connects on the bottom it's a two piece mold and is from 1840-1865/70.

Hello TrickyVik,

That, I'm sorry to say, is utter balderdash. May I suggest an extended visit to Historic Bottle Website - Homepage

Hello Paleopilot,

Gombault's Caustic Balsam is a veterinary medicine.

"Gombault's Caustic balsam was a famous French Veterinary remedy that became quite popular in the United States through marketing by the Lawrence Williams Company of Ohio. This is basically a counter-irritant type of mediciation. It is thought that the formula for this medication is similar to the below as written in the Physicican's Formulary of 1912..." Gombaults

Thank you Surf, I'm wondering about the, "Sold Prop's for U.S. and Canada", proclamation? Were they talking about aircraft propellers?

Hey Paleopilot,

It does look like "Sold," but is meant to say. "Sole proprietors..." Your photo is a bit fuzzy to my eyes. Perhaps there was a bit of debris in the mould that is causing the "E" to look kinda, "D."

It looks like the Embossing had a plethora of drilled vent holes in the mould. This is me, squinting like crazy, trying to get a better view...

This bottle definitely says, SOLD PROP'S FOR U.S. AND CANADA, very clearly on both sides. It's hard to photograph a glass bottle, I'm finding. Not sure what they mean, "PROP'S". If it were propellers, you wouldn't need the hyphen.

Hey Paleopilot,

"Prop's" is a 19th Century abbreviation for "Proprietors."

Have a look at Matt Knapp's listing for your bottle:

" GOMBAULT
J E GOMBAULT'S CAUSTIC BALSAM THE LAWRENCE WILLIAMS CO. SOLE PROP'S FOR U.S. AND CANADA
common" Antique Medicines Bottle Nexus Section - Gm to Gz -

Have a look at this 1905 advertisement, that describes them as "Sole Agents." The Horse Review - Google Books
