Hey TrickyVik,

It's not an ink. It appears to be a salt shaker. Is there a symbol on the base? It is of negligible value.

Hello TrickyVik,

It's still not an ink. Your photos are dark and unfocused. Using a flash when photographing glass is counterproductive.

Please take some well focused photos, in natural daylight.

Hello TrickyVik,

I guess I'm missing your point. Yes the little fancy desk ink on the South African site does appear to have a ground top. The photos are too tiny to pick up much detail.

A ground top, in and of itself, does not indicate an ink. Many old fruit jars have ground tops. It is not an ink form, in my opinion.

How did you come by it?

Well then what is it in your opinion it's not a pepper/salt shaker. Fond it in my amazing dump in an undisclosed location.

Looks like a shaker to me. That looks too tall to be an ink and the glass isn't heavy enough to be one of the fancy ones. The fancy inks in the pic all look like cut glass. I've been digging bottles 36 years and have seen a lot. It seems like you have your mind made up on this one so I'm sure nobody will argue with you. Looks like a keeper though just not an ink. DD.

It is not a salt why would the inner layers of glass around the thin cylinder in the middle be so wide?

TrickyVik,

I'm not at all sure of what you are asking here.

Are you referring to the apparent thickness of the glass walls of the shaker? If that is the case; it had to do with the orientation of the parison coming in contact with the mould halves.

Perhaps better photos, might tell the tale... What is the diameter of the finish? I cannot decipher the base mark from your existing photos.

Inks are squat, the last thing they would ever use is a "tall" receptacle, like the one he shows, which is a shaker. Inks are squat so as not to be easily tipped over, causing a spill. The op should look at some ink bottles at his leisure, perhaps he will see the light. I after E does not apply to leisure. Don't forget that either.

Thanks for the info but I disagree the space to put things inside is just to thin and small but thank you.

But the air space inside is too tall and thin so it will tip over too easy that is not an ink because the air space near the mold seam inside the inner ring inside the circle in the middle is too wide near the cylinder as such, but it has been ground off, so it might be a perfume, or a fruit jar, but its hard to say because there aint much to put stuff in. Nice find!
