We dug this up several years in an area where we knew there was a trash pit alongside an old slave built stone wall. The house is now part of a church and school here. The bottle is very thin and I can tell it was the kind you might put a cork in(no screw top) my guess at the length is about 6 inches tall.

I think the bottom one might have been some sort of medicine. The top one looks exactly like one I have. Mine says The Name St. Joseph's Assures Purity. I am by no means a pro so if I'm wrong someone will chime in. Good finds though. HH

The bottom one has Illinois written on it and I too think it is a medicine bottle. The first one has no markings that I can see though unless they have just rubbed off. Thanks for your reply and maybe someone will come along who can help.

Top one could be anything from a whiskey flask to a turpentine bottle, only the missing paper label could identify what it was used for, and the 2nd is a pharmacy bottle like Josh said. It's marked that way to show different dosages depending on what the prescribing doctor told the patient to take....

Even though I don't know what it is I still like it.i am thinking now it could be an old St.Josephs bottle purely by the shape of it.

It could be one like mine but instead of embossing it had the paper label like E said. You will never know for sure. I have quite a few blank bottles that will never be IDed. Still nice finds though.
