A friend was kind enough to bring these 2 items to work for my viewing pleasure. thought i would share them with you guys. Gotta love the color of the insulator. The bottle is a 2 pc and the seam stops at the neck. It says monroe bottle works in monroe, la. This is some thick glass i kid you not. I think it was a soda bottle and possibly coca cola. He is going to take the bottle to our local coke museum to find out for sure. According to history, coca cola wasn't bottled in monroe, la until around 1912-13. And if it was coke, they show to have been using a different style bottle than this for that time period. So we're not sure what the bottle contained.

I doubt the bottle was a Coke bottle, but it's still a really nice bottle. The Hemingray No. 9 is a nice little find too. They don't turn up as often as they used to, at least not out in "the wild" I do see them in some of the junk shops here occasionally though. I'm going to try and get my insulator collection out of storage at my moms place this summer so I'll be bombing the site with photos.....

Thanks ken. The bottle contents are still unknown. I'm thinking it may have been one of the first bottles produced in monroe and i'm guessing around 1895-1905. Beidenharn didn't start bottling coke here until a1912-14. Do you think there could have been another soda being bottled before coke? Or possibly a bitter?

Cant find when monroe bottling works first started. If you run across it, let me know. This bottle has a faint side seam that runs up to the neck then disappears.
