Hey Guys I'm not a bottle guy but I found one while MDing and need to find out how old it is and maybe what it was used for?

Clear bottle with seam all the way to the lip. Made by Owens Ill. Glass Co. Base has these numbers H 255 on first line, 3 followed by an I inside a diamond inside an oblongish circle followed by H 8

Any help is greatly appreciated,

Fast Ed

Hello Fast Ed,

It's a ketchup bottle, made in 1938 at the Huntington, WVA Illinois Glass Plant. That closure appears to be a Kork-N-Seal.

Surf, that is so freekin awesome! It was found about 2 feet down next to a very old "Oliver" plow share. I am putting together a program based on all my finds for the owners open house this coming week (Historical Homestead 1700's) and this info is gonna be very valuable resource for that program. Thanks so much for the help. Can you tell me where I can print that original ad for the "cork n seal"?
