Hello bbheigle,

Looks like a cup mould base on a TOC beer or malt beverage to me.

Happy hunting.

Nice find BB. You got any more from your hoard that you can show us?

With the side-seams continuing onto the base rim, I believe this to be a post-bottom mold bottle.

It looks large. If the volume of the bottle is 16 or 24 fluid ounces, it is certainly a beer bottle.

Hello Harry,

Thanks for that keen observation, you are correct, of course. I looked right past the presence of the side seam, to what I thought is a cup mould seam at the heel. I may have my eyes on upside down. 8-) I didn't see the post plate seam, and turned to the heel.

Thanks y'all! So this would put it in the late 1800's to early 1900's? Do y'all know what the 2 raised dots on the base meant? I've been digging up many different types of bottles from the 1860's-1880's and I haven't came across one like this.

Hey bb,

The only thing I can think of is a mould code. Here's a Bixby with a couple:

"The dots probably are mold identification codes, serving the same purpose as a mold number, although it may be possible there were other reasons for these dots." S. M. Bixby & Company
