WTG deershed,

Yes, to it being a Hutch. F.D. Harman seems to have been a player in Hagerstown bottling during the Hutchinson Era. Of the 13 Hutchinsons of Hagerstown, his name is on four. See Ron Fowler's HutchBook.

By 1907, he was into "Wholesale Beer."

Nice finds, I like the hutch and Surf's history on the hutch. If those are pretty much surface finds, what lies deeper or is it too rocky there? Great pictures too. Cindy

Deershed, just gies to show there are always treasures left behind at "hunted out" places. Congratulations on your Hutch., Anyone can own a Hutch but not everyone can say they found one

We're up in the mountains and it's nothing but rocks. Most our bottles we find are no deeper then a foot down. And most are scattered around usually below the old foundations we find with maybe one small area where the bottles are concentrated.
If we find a concentration it's usually not very much and not very deep.
The good part, after a good heavy rain there's a good chance a few bottles will be exposed.

Thanks bass!! I'm still stoked about finding that hutch.

Looks like a good day... the "in situ" pictures are nice... I still have a flip phone (no pics) and always feel like I jinx myself by bringing a camera so I never get em.

Good stuff.

While I was at work the boy made a trip back to this area today.

No more hutches or anything super nice,he did find a whole beer like my busted top beer.

image_zps5cd3f5f6-1.jpg

image_zps7350820f-1.jpg

He also found a stoneware piece.

image_zpsc95f97bf-1.jpg

And what looks like an old whiskey and some inks.

image_zps19c352d1.jpg

I have a couple questions,is this a whiskey? And this and a couple of cork tops the seam doesn't go the whole way up to the top of the bottle.
On the cork tops the neck of the bottles look like the top is lopsided and is not center on the bottles.
Any idea of a time frame on these?

image_zpsf9b4a496.jpg

image_zps7236f9d6-1.jpg

The pic of the smaller cork top it's harder to see the lopsided neck.

image_zpsa149600e-1.jpg

There's some good broken glass here so hopefully before we're done with this area we'll have a couple more good bottles. The boy is heading back tomorrow while I'm headed back to work,I'll be back in this area Thursday.
The boy is staying away from the area where the hutch was found.

I agree with others, go back and dig deeper. Is it possible to go say 6 feet from the spot where all of the bottles were found?
