That is a mystery. Not so sure that its a bottle base though. Is is glass or ceramic? The numbers appear to be hand drawn and not machine.

The more i look at it the more i wonder if its a base to a piece of pottery someone made at home or in high school, etc. i actually had an arts and crafts class in high school where we made pottery and like this example, i put my initials and year made on the bottom of all my pieces. Matter of fact, everyone in class did the same.

That seems to be the case. 1957 would be a weird thing to put on a base of anything old, even if it didn't mean the date. I think you've got this one Bass.
