Weird Mason Jar Lid

Found this jar with this lid on it while going through a bottle dump a couple of weeks ago.

Can anyone tell me about it? I've never seen one like this before.

I found something similar- if not the same- on EBAY- check it out- OLD-PRESTO-GLASS-TOP-CANNING-JAR | eBay- . Not that I'm a fan... but found it on a quick google search. Apparently, they came in a daisy-cut pattern as well, although that style looks a bit suspicious, and again, am not sure of age/authenticity. You found yours so, it must be made that way for a reason, no? Yakker

Yakker. -- That's it. I just didn't get the glass insert with mine. The lid was on it when I found it. I wonder if the glass broke. I may get back out there this week. I've only scratched the surface.
