001.JPG 002.JPG Hoping someone can tell me something about this one!Found at a yard sale years ago.The guy said it was found in the Rappahannock River here in Va?,but that is all I was told about it.I was gonna put it on the what is it forum but was thinking this might be the best place right now.It is about 9 1/2 long, about 2 1/2 wide and the bottom is round.joe

Nice round bottom bottle these are common but I enjoy finding them. With the round bottom they would have to be left on there side so that the cork wouldn't dry out so the contents wouldn't evaporate.

Mine are pitiful compared to the amazing examples I'm seeing here... but around here, most of the survivors are small, with just a couple exceptions. At this point, small is good as I'm moving and currently packing (egad). So here ya go:
Sorry bout the bad pic- but these are the 2 Pepsimint bottles I found- which Surf identified for me.

Then 2 matching creamer top milks, embossed Blue Hen- from DE.

And last but not least, a little blue poison and my Turlington

All found by me.

Its a ginger ale bottle, fairly common, desirable if it has an embossed maker name, but most had paper labels.

Great stuff to see in this thread.... and a good question!

I saw this last week and really gave it some thought.... if I could only snag 2 of the bottles I have which ones would they be :icon_scratch:

My most recent good find, a blue Union Flask Dispensary and found several years ago a capers/olive bottle, bottom is about skinnier than the top.

Of course it would be hard leaving the inks behind, but they're not bottles, so I'd take them too! :hello2:

Do soda bottles with "paint" on them count? My two favorites aren't as old as some I've seen posted here but might be just as rare and hard to come by.

1. My number-one all-time favorite = Navajo Land Fine Beverages ~ Gallup, New Mexico ~ 1940s

2. My next favorite = Country Boy Beverages ~ San Diego, California ~ 1944

Both are in near-mint condition, considered rare, and valued at about $250.00 each.

My "C" Lomax soda bottle is my favorite. The "G" Lomax bottles are common, hutches, blobs many different types seeing as they were in business for a good while. I believe the C was intended to be a G. No record of any C Lomax bottling soda in Chicago in the 1800's. I have seen the exact same bottle but with the G and have only heard of one other person with a C Lomax. So my conclusion is that it was an error when the slug plate or mold was carved. ?? 006.JPG 005.JPG 003.JPG 004.JPG

Well , where I live up here in the clouds it is not old enough to find some of the beautiful glass shown here But here are 2 of my favorites from my digging ,,, The 32oz green Smiths Pharmacy bottle is still the only one known to exist in that size . I dug it from an outhouse pit in 1992 in Cripple Creek circa 1902 The half pint sideboard whiskey flask is scarce I dug it from an outhouse pit in the back yard of the 1894 house I lived in in Victor in 1995, circa 1896. Thanks for the post Relic !
