My 1st bottles

While detecting a construction site with my 8 y/o daughter she walked up to me with an old whiskey bottle that she found sticking out of the dirt. I've been detecting for a while but I have never looked for bottles, or never really found any (intact anyway). Anyway, I thought the bottle was cool so I put it in my bag and walked over to where she found it and started kicking some dirt around. Well, let's just say I LOVE bottles now. We stumbled across a privy and hit the mother load. It was just bottle after bottle, after bottle. I never felt such a rush. It was just great! I know the bottles aren't that valuable, but that doesn't bother me at all. The fact that I now have a nice little starter collection and the quality time spent with my daughter digging them is worth more then any monetary value.

Welcome to a whole new world. Glad you and your daughter were able to dig these together. Would like to see some close ups of some of the embossed bottles.

I'll try to clean a few of the embossed ones up and post tonight. Some of the names are really great. For instance, the small brown teardrop bottle says "valentines meat juice". Lol. Everything was so simple 100 years ago.

Sounds like you caught the disease. Since I started to dig bottles my detector gets neglected. But would love to see some close ups of your finds preferably in a window with a lot of blue sky . Awesome recoveries. And I can't wait till my little punkin is old enough to catch the bug.

Nice photos and bottles. The cobalt blue jar is really cool. I like druggist bottle also.

Very nice, that's a great haul in my book. By the way, great cleaning job. I like the meat juice and the headache remedy.
