Today's Finds

Got out today and scratched around for a couple of hours. Found a Hoyt & Co perfumer (3rd one from this area) a slick medicine, a Grove's Tasteless Chill Tonic, a Febriline Trademark bottle, a slick amber beer, a figurine head, and what i think is a sab container. This is the 5th Grove's bottle i have found and those are pretty common here as this tonic was used to fight malaria. After reading about Febriline, discovered it was quinine and was bought out by the Grove's company before 1900. It was also probably taken to fight malaria.

Very cool stuff. Like the pics of bottles stuck in the dirt, waiting to be pulled out. All the embossed bottles are beautiful. I have found a few slick beers myself, some fairly old and wondered if there is any monetary value in them. I would think a lot of beer collectors would want them just so they could apply reproduced labels and display them. I've seen prices for old beer bottles with the label intact and they're worth a lot. Only problem is the label is usually gone when you find them. I'm new here by the way, got into collecting and looking for antique bottles around four years ago. Can't wait to share some of my finds and results from latest bottle hunts!
