Forgive me if this has been beaten to death, but I have been searching for well over an hour on here and all I can find are threads of sites and finds (which is absolutely fascinating so far..it's just gotten me more fired up to find a spot) My property has a creek on it and every time it rains I find bottle fragments and sometimes nearly whole bottles and insulators that seems to be getting older the more I go down there and remove what I find.
This past week I found an almost whole bottle that I researched based on markings and learned it was made in 1940. So I find some good fun stuff occasionally mixed with all the modern trash that ends of sweeping down my creek...anyway sorry for the rambling but was looking for any kind of help on locating old privy spots or bottle dumps or even where along creeks would be the best to search.
Thanks again

hay ,here is an idea ! walk up the creek . There may be a dump up stream. and as far a out houses are concerned, unless they were billet over the creek ( as some were ) you will need to get a probe .

Thanks. I should try more upstream..I followed it only a tiny ways downstream yesterday..my thinking being everything would eventually end up downstream where it finally ends up into a much bigger and more famous creek (Haven't made it down that far yet). I will try further up the creek. I build a small strainer but there was so much on top that I didnt bother to dig. I hope there is older stuff underneath. Not sure how to do all that yet..will continue to read up. Here is all the junk pieces I picked up in a small area on my creek yesterday.
Also found a nice Hemingray No.40 insulator. Are those the most common ones?

I found what I think is an old privy by accident while detecting our property. The canning jar lids got me digging and I ended up pulling out over 2 dozen in tact bottles. Winter hit us hard so I'll be working that hole further come Spring time. Good luck!
