I am thinking maybe I'll try soaking it in vinegar.

Maybe try lemon juice and salt. Scrubbing pad... Go easy on the harsh chemicals.

I put it in cider vinegar about six hours ago and I scrubbed it with a bottle brush for a minute, the rust was dissolving. I guess I'll leave it in there for a weak then try scrubbing.

Got a good start on it, some residual stains remain and I do not think they will ever be removed. I rubbed off some paint and detail in some spots. I should have waited longer before trying I think. I am not patient when it comes to things like this. lol

Almost done!!

Been soaking in vinegar since I made this post, the vinegar was not enough so I put it in my hydrochloric bucket for 10 minutes and it came out pearly white. I have to figure out how to get the gray staining off of the top, scrubbing is working but not well.
