This was dump I should got the hint when ten cemented bricks fell and hit my shin bone . I wasnt expecting a brick to be above in the hole. When woke up splashed some water across my face went back to digging

I only dig deep with stuff above my head early in the spring when the top of the ground is still frozen. When the ground thaws I do not allow anything above my head. Whenever I feel particles falling on me I get out of town, this has saved me from some nasty stuff falling on me.

Another thing, instead of trying to dig deep think about digging wide and deep. Your first instinct is to get down to the good stuff immediately but that only works when the ground is solid, when it is thawed you will be battling with collapsing walls. Best to just dig wide and then deep.

Let it be a lesson, glad your ok.

Try having a bucket full of dirt being hoisted to the top and the handle breaks free....good thing we were paying attention or that would have been a burial pit. Be careful out there, hope for no recurring issues. jgas
