copper question

I noticed while reading through the threads on cleaning that many of you way you put a little copper wire in, and I was wondering why.

The cut edges of the wire do an excellent job cleaning. It's hard enough to stand up to being used over and over and soft enough not to harm the bottle.

The only chemical reaction is the cleaner you are using with the copper shot might turn it a different color like this:
